First, the bias: this page lives on the Sentry IQ site. So here is the other side up front. Sentry Pro is a solid app, on iOS and Android, with public App Store reviews you can read. Sentry IQ is newer, free, and iOS only for now. Both solve the same problem: Tesla only notifies you about three kinds of Sentry event, and everything else is recorded in silence.

Where Sentry Pro is ahead
Reach. It has an Android app in the store today, and its iOS app offers Critical Alerts, which can break through Do Not Disturb. If you carry an Android phone, it is the one of the two you can install right now.
Where Sentry IQ is ahead
- Price. Free, all of it. Sentry Pro runs about $72 a year. If that ever changes, this page will say so plainly.
- Lock from the alert. Next to honk and flash, one tap locks the car. The alert that tells you a door opened should also be the button that closes the question.
- Incidents, not a feed. One person triggering eight events reads as one incident with a beginning and an end, not eight rows.
- Stated limits. We publish what the app cannot do and what we could do with the access you grant, in plain language, on the homepage and the privacy page. Tesla grants command access as one permission; every app in this category holds more power than it uses, including both of these. We think the difference worth paying attention to is who spells that out.
