Sentry IQ watches your Tesla's Sentry Mode and tells you when something happens. This page says what it holds, why it holds it, and how to make it all go away.

Signing in

You sign in on Tesla's own page. Sentry IQ never sees your password. Tesla then gives it permission to do four things:

• read whether Sentry Mode is armed, and whether it has just seen something
• send the commands you tap: horn, lights, lock, turn Sentry on
• read where the car is, so an alert can show you the spot on a map
• stay connected, so you are not sent back to the Tesla sign-in every eight hours

Signing in also tells Sentry IQ the email address on your Tesla account. It is kept so one account can be told from another. Nothing is ever sent to it.

What it never asks for

• your name, your address, or anything else on your Tesla profile
• your driving, charging or trip history
• your phone's location. The app has no location permission and never will
• camera footage from Tesla. Sentry IQ never asks Tesla for video, and never fetches any

What it stores

• the email address on your Tesla account
• the key Tesla issues so the app can keep working. It is held on the Sentry IQ server and never on your phone
• your cars: the VIN, the name you gave the car, and whether Sentry is armed
• your alerts: what the car reported, the time, and where it was parked when it happened
• your schedule, if you set one. If you tell it where home or work is, that spot is stored too. It comes from the car, never from your phone, and it is only ever used to work out which of your plans applies right now
• a token for your phone, so a notification can find it
• if you have the IQ Box: the short clip the car recorded of the event, and one line describing what is in it

Who else touches it

• Vercel, which runs the server, in Frankfurt
• Neon, which runs the database
• Google Cloud, which runs the server your car streams to, in Belgium
• Expo, which hands notifications to Apple so they reach your phone
• Google Gemini, which reads the IQ Box clip and writes that one line. It gets the clip and nothing else

That is the whole list. Nothing is sold, nothing goes to advertisers, and nobody else is given access.

How long it is kept

• alerts and their clips: 90 days, then they are deleted
• an account nobody has opened in four months: deleted, with everything attached to it. By then the key Tesla issued has expired anyway

Deleting everything

In the app: Settings, then Disconnect Tesla account. That deletes the account, the key to your Tesla, your cars, your alerts and your clips. There is nothing left afterwards to ask us for.

You can also remove Sentry IQ from Security in your Tesla account, which cuts the connection at Tesla's end.

This website

The site keeps anonymous page counts, in PostHog and in Vercel's own analytics, so we can tell which pages help. No cookies, nothing saved on your device past the visit, nothing that identifies you.
